Congratulations !!!

Michael Dukas Sensei
7th Dan

Michael Dukas Sensei  was awarded his 7th Dan following an exam and approval by Yahara, Isaka and Ibusuki Senseis on 17 June 2006.

Sensei Mike and Sensei Ian spent a week training with Yahara Sensei and Isaka Sensei at the at the Honbu-Dojo in Tokyo.

Karate 2006 World Championships

Bryan Dukas, 4th Dan has been chosen to represent South Africa in the Kata division at the Karate World Championships in Finland.

 " The event will be held in the Tampere Ice Stadium from 12 to 15 October 2006. Some 1,000 athletes from over 100 countries will participate.

The Championships are expected to attract 15,000-20,000 spectators and considerable international media interest.

The competitions will be an action-packed four-day spectacle, from early in the morning to late in the evening.

There will be 17 competition categories: four for teams, six for women and seven for men. The competitions will be complemented by a massive training event for international referees starting in the week before the championships. Almost 300 referees will participate in the training Organizing the championships is a joint effort by the World Karate Federation, the Finnish Karate Federation and the City of Tampere.

This is the first time the Karate World Championships have been held in the Nordic Countries and they will be Finland's largest sports event in 2006!

Class Times Update!

Class times have been changed.

The updated class times are available on the website - Letters will also be handed out in this regard.

If you see that the times does not suit you, please feel free to come and speak to us - we shall try to see what we can do for you.

It has become necessary to change the times to give more attention to each group. We shall be putting in an extra class on Mondays and Wednesdays at the Vanderbijlpark Dojo.

KWF SA National Championships

A number of our members took part in the KWF South Africa  National Championships on 19th and 30th May. We felt very proud of the way all our members conducted themselves during the event, and the wonderful results that so many of you had.

Congratulations to all the medal winners - you were all just great. It is with great pleasure that we announce that Bryan Dukas Sensei was awarded GRAND CHAMPION during the champs, having won gold in both Kata and Kumite Open Black Belt Divisions - indeed a very big honour.

Michael Dukas Sensei and Pieter van Wyk Sempai pictured together in Tokyo. Pieter is currently living in Tokyo and attends classes at the Honbu - Dojo.

KSA All Styles Ladies Cup Karate Championships
 

Elandie Van Niekerk and Jeanne Marais took part in the KSA All Styles Ladies Cup Karate Championships held on 1st April 2006

Both have been selected to represent Karate South Africa at the Zone 6 Karate Championships to be held in Zimbabwe on 26th and 27th May 2006.

They will be awarded Karate South Africa Colours for this event.

Kata Junior 2nd place

 

Elandi won 2 medals - 1st in her age group and also 1st in the Open Division (although she is only 17 years old!!)
Kata Cadets - 3rd place
Over 60 kg Snr Kumite - 3rd place

Congratulations to both girls on this wonderful achievement. We wish them a wonderful trip and may they be successful.
