It was utilised at the time that the Asai JKA faction held legal title to the name Shadan Nihon Karate Kyokai (Japan Karate Assocation) and Malcolm Dorfman Sensei was Chief Instructor of the South African affiliate under the name JKA S.A. Karate Union. Since June 1999, JKA S.A. Karate Union no longer goes under this title and has continued under the name Karate no Michi South Africa, which is affiliated to the Karate no Michi World Federation (KWF).
